The Samsung ML-3051N for Small & Medium-sized Offices

The Samsung ML-3051N is a monochrome printer, which is moderately priced but with versatile and robust features. It is best suited for small and medium-sized offices that need high-volume black and white prints.

The gray box-like Samsung ML-3051N does not boast of great looks but because of its convenient size it is easy to move. Although, since it’s a network-ready printer you will rarely need to move it. It is 15” wide, 16” deep and approximately 10.5” high.

It has three connection options – USB, Ethernet and a parallel connector. It supports both Mac and Windows operating systems. Wireless networking can also be appended. It has a 400 MHz processor and a random access memory of 64MB (expandable to 320 MB). Duplexing has to be done manually though a built-in duplexer is available with the costlier ML-3051ND.

The highlighting feature of the Samsung ML-3051N is the uncomplicated control panel with 5 buttons for navigation of the smart menu. The five buttons are for – menu, OK, back and two arrow keys for direction. There are also buttons for canceling a job, demo and toner saving. It also features versatile paper-handling options and can handle up to 250 sheets of legal sized-paper in its paper tray. An additional 250-sheet paper tray can also be opted for. The multipurpose tray in the front of the printer is capable of holding 50 sheets of plain paper.

The printer has user-friendly maintenance features and is easy to replace its single black toner cartridge by merely pulling out the old one by its handle and inserting the new cartridge. The user can adjust the amount of toner to be used by pressing the toner save button and printing in the draft mode. A standard laser toner cartridge can print around 4,000 pages, whereas a high-yield cartridge can print almost double the amount. Samsung claims that the printer can print 30 pages per minute.
